There is no national Subway holiday schedule. Is Subway open on Christmas?
Assume no. The overwhelming majority of standalone US stores close on December 25 so staff can take the day. The exceptions are almost all non-traditional locations — counters inside airports, hospitals, casinos, university buildings, truck stops and military bases, which keep their host site's hours rather than their own. If you need a sandwich on Christmas Day, an airport or travel-plaza store is your realistic option.
Thanksgiving is the other likely closure
Thanksgiving behaves like Christmas: mostly closed, with non-traditional sites and a minority of high-traffic highway stores trading limited hours, often finishing by 2pm. Black Friday, by contrast, is a normal or busier-than-normal day, and mall-adjacent stores frequently open early for it.
How to check your store in under a minute
- The Subway app. Store hours are pulled per location and update when the franchisee changes them — the same reason the app is the only accurate source for prices.
- Google Business Profile. Search the store and look for a "Holiday hours" line under the opening times; most franchisees maintain this.
- Call the store. Still the fastest answer on the morning of a holiday.
- Order ahead the day before. If it lets you schedule a pickup slot, the store expects to be open then — see ordering online.
