The Subway app is the single most useful thing about ordering from Subway in 2026, for one unglamorous reason: it is the only place that knows what your specific restaurant sells, what it charges, whether it is open, and which offers it accepts. Every price list on the internet — including ours — is a range. The app is the actual number.
What it does that the website doesn't
- Store-accurate menus and prices, including whether breakfast, Sidekicks and catering are available at that location.
- App-only offers — most of the meaningful discounts are here rather than on subway.com; see our coupons guide.
- MVP Rewards tracking, tier status and redemption, covered in our rewards guide.
- Scheduled pickup — order at 11:15, collect at 12:05, skip the queue.
- Saved and reordered builds, so a 14-step custom sub becomes two taps.
- Delivery with a real radius check, usually cheaper than third-party apps — the maths is in our delivery guide.
- Gift card storage, per our gift card guide.
Getting set up properly
- Install from the App Store or Google Play — the official app, not a look-alike ordering aggregator.
- Create an account before you need it. Points are only credited to an account at the time of purchase; you cannot claim them retroactively.
- Set your home store. Prices and offers change when you switch stores, which is the cause of most "the deal disappeared" confusion.
- Turn on offer notifications, turn off everything else. The genuinely good promotions are short-lived and push-only.
- Add a payment method and a gift card. Both earn points.
Ordering well in the app
Two habits make app orders come out like counter orders. First, use the notes and customisation screens fully — light sauce, extra toasted, cut in half, sauce on the side — because the person building it cannot see your face. Second, choose pickup times realistically: a scheduled slot is respected far more reliably than an ASAP order dropped into a lunch rush. The full walkthrough is in our online ordering guide.
Known annoyances
- Offers that don't apply — most are Footlong-only, exclude the Sub of the Day and are declined by non-participating franchisees, including airport and campus stores.
- A store showing closed while open. This usually means online ordering is paused, not that the door is locked — call the restaurant.
- Missing menu items. The app reflects that store's actual stock, so a missing Sidekick is genuinely unavailable there.
- Points not credited. Keep the receipt; support can add them after the fact if you were signed in.
- Login loops after an update — signing out and back in fixes the majority.
Is it worth installing?
If you visit Subway more than about twice a year, yes. The rewards and app-only offers pay for the storage space within two orders, and the accuracy of store-level prices and hours beats any third-party source, including the map listings we recommend in our store locator hub. If you visit rarely, ordering as a guest on subway.com is fine — you just forgo points and most discounts.
Frequently asked
Is the Subway app free?
Yes, on iOS and Android, with no subscription.
Can I use app offers in store?
Yes at most locations — show the offer or scan your account code at the register — but some offers are online-order only.
Does the app work at every Subway?
Ordering works at participating restaurants, which is the majority. Non-traditional sites such as some airport, hospital and campus counters are excluded.
Can I order for a group in the app?
For a few subs, yes. For platters and Giant Subs use catering, which needs lead time — see our catering guide.
We are an independent guide and are not affiliated with Subway. App features, offers and participation vary by restaurant and change without notice.
