The three ways to find a Subway, ranked
- The Subway app. The only source that knows whether a store is genuinely open and accepting orders right now, which menu it carries, and whether it delivers to you. If you intend to actually buy something, start here.
- The official locator at restaurants.subway.com. Best for browsing by state, city and street, and for store pages with addresses, phone numbers and listed amenities.
- Google Maps or Apple Maps. Fastest for "which one is closest and how do I drive there", and the best source of recent photos and customer reports on whether the posted hours are real.
A fourth option worth knowing: if you are in a supermarket, hospital, university, airport or highway travel plaza, check that building's own directory. In-host Subway counters frequently do not appear correctly in map apps, and their hours follow the host, not Subway.
What to check before you drive over
This is the part that makes the difference between a good lunch and a wasted trip. Every item below varies between individual restaurants:

Location types you'll run into
Freestanding and strip-mall stores
The default format: full menu, seating, usually 8am–9pm or 10pm, most likely to offer curbside and delivery, and the ones that occasionally have a drive-thru.
Inside supermarkets (Walmart and grocery chains)
Full sandwich menu, no seating, hours tied to the store, and generally no delivery or curbside. Prices at these locations are often at the lower end of the ranges in our price guide.
Campuses, hospitals and military bases
Frequently restricted access, reduced hours in summer or overnight, and sometimes meal-plan or base-card payment instead of the Subway app — which also means no MVP Rewards points.
Airports, stadiums and travel plazas
Longest hours, shortest menus and the highest prices in the chain, sometimes several dollars above a suburban store for the same Footlong. App offers are frequently excluded at these sites.
Why prices differ between two Subways a mile apart
Because they are different businesses. Subway restaurants are independently owned franchises, and each owner sets menu prices, decides whether to run the $4.99 Sub of the Day, whether to serve breakfast, and whether to accept app promotions. Only if your address falls inside that restaurant's delivery radius, which is usually a few miles. Delivery hours can also end earlier than the restaurant's closing time, so a store open until 10pm may stop delivering at 9pm.
