Sidekicks are the most successful thing Subway has added to the menu in years. The idea is simple: take the footlong format the brand already owns, apply it to a snack, and price it low enough that it goes on almost every order. Whether they are worth ordering depends entirely on which one you pick and how fresh your store keeps them.

Which ones are actually good
- Churro — the best of the four. It reheats well, it is the cheapest, and it is the only one that tastes close to what the co-brand sells in its own stores. Ask for it warmed.
- Pretzel — good when fresh, dense when not. If the store has been quiet, it will have been sitting. Ask for it warmed and ask for cheese sauce or mustard on the side.
- Dippers — the sleeper pick. Effectively a pizza roll with marinara; the most filling of the four and the one that works best as an actual side to a 6-inch.
- Footlong Cookie — a sharing item, not a snack. A whole one is well over a thousand calories. It is genuinely good, but split it three ways.
How Sidekicks change the value maths
A 6-inch sub plus a churro often costs less than a Footlong and leaves you more satisfied — that is the entire commercial logic. But do the calorie arithmetic before treating it as a saving: a 6-inch turkey plus a pretzel is around 800 calories, more than a Footlong turkey on its own. Getting them warm
All four are held at ambient temperature and warmed on request. Say "warmed, please" when you order — it takes seconds and it is the difference between a good churro and a chewy one. For delivery, expect none of them to arrive warm; order the cookie or Dippers rather than the pretzel if the trip is long (see our delivery guide).
Allergens and availability
All four contain wheat; the pretzel, cookie and Dippers contain milk, and the cookie contains egg and soy. Availability varies by franchise — the churro and cookie are the most widely stocked, Dippers the least.
